Second Grade Challenge: April 3-7

Hello, second graders! This week's challenge starts with a problem from NRICH maths:

By this point in the year, you are such good mathematical thinkers that you might be ready for even MORE of a challenge.

First, make a prediction about the numbers 24 and 29. For which number do you think you'll be able to make the most rectangles?

Then, try it out. How many different rectangles can you make using 24 counters? What about 29?

Was your prediction correct? Explain why or why not.

Have an adult send a picture of your work to acsk2challenge@gmail.com . You will get a certificate and will be entered for a chance to win a sweet treat. Good luck!

Ms. D
